Visit to Nova Scotia January 2007

The last week of January, we visited Fred's family in Halifax, Nova Scotia and while we were driving there, visited the Glooscap Heritage Centre which is located 8 km east of Truro. It is easily identified from the highway with this huge 40 foot tall statue of Glooscap, who is a spiritual legend that is an important part of the Mi'kmaq history. The centre has an Aboriginal Art Gallery and a Gift Shop. The statue is a bronze and shines in the Sun. Millbrook First Nation has an on-reserve pop. of 729 people.

January 11.2007
We are @ Tropicana Juice in Jersey City. Now I was sure that Canada Geese went south of the border, but didn't know that meant just over the border. It was of course a little warmer in Jersey City than it was in Canada, but maybe somebody is feeding them? We could buy them a map or GPS system!!! Florida is much more south.

On the same day just a state away in Pennsylvania the ice was forming on the mountains. How can it hang like that, and it usually stays till spring. We need a lot of sun to melt that.

On our way back we picked up a load of juice in Jersey City and clicked this picture of the new condominiums being build in Jersey City. The front is being cleaned up, which is a good thing in Jersey, because a lot of junk and dirt accumulates in that place. In the background is New York City, downtown Manhattan. Of course the skyline is missing the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. Wish I had a picture of that to compare!!!! When you approach the site on the left, you can see the Statue of Liberty and I bet you pay for the view.

For the first trip of the New Year we are going to Harrisburg, Pa. Pictured above is the Tappan Zee Bridge between New York State and New Jersey. Certainly not as busy as the George Washington Bridge which goes directly through the Bronx, downtown New York City.

It was a beautiful sight!

December 31, 2006

They say "good men" are hard to find. Well apparently not at Midland Transport. George even does windows. What a "prize"
Happy New Year to everyone. What an amazing year it has been!!!!

December 31,2006
Imagine Midland hauling a yellow Sunbury trailer. My Mom always told me " green does not go well with yellow" I suggested we wear paperbags over our heads. But Fred did not mind as much.
On our way home from Toronto to Pe for New Year's Eve.

"Yes we have no bananas"

After the Camden NJ delivery, I guess it was a given we would go to guess what " Camden yards" in Camden to pick up Bananas. Unload them from the boats from Costa Rica and load them onto the Canadian trucks. Busy place all year around. But it took only about an hr and we were on our way to Toronto to deliver the bananas.

The week after Xmas 2006 we delivered Fries in Camden NJ across the street from this place. Imagine people live and work here and I wondered why they do not tear places like this down.

Totally abandoned and I saw critters going in and out!!!!

December 2006

Christmas spirit is everywhere. Nancy @ the Superstore in Summerside PEI is doing her bit and amused a lot of customers by dressing up for the occasion. Even though the employees worked on Sunday before Xmas they were all in good humour.

December 2006

Cavendish French Fries decorated outside their plants in New Annan. Its really nice to travel in the winter and find that lots of people decorate. This year a lot of people went way beyond and had lights all over their homes.

November 2006

In November Moncton had their share of the early winter. It looked like a winter wonderland. This took a while to clean up, and of course Fred and I landed right in the middle of the storm.
